Post Preliminary

PDCC and Open House

Once the paper maps are distributed, coordination occurs with the impacted communities to plan the Preliminary DFIRM Community Coordination (PDCC) meeting and Open House.

Community officials are presented the FIRMs and FIS at the PDCC meeting and then to the general public (Open House). Any changes in flood risk will be explained and participants will have an opportunity to provide feedback.

The 90-Day Appeal Period

After the PDCC Meeting, a 90-day appeal period for communities with new or updated flood hazards begins after a public notification process is completed. During this period, communities, or the public (through their community officials) can submit data to revise the FIRM if they believe it is scientifically or technically incorrect. The Appeals and Comments will be reviewed and, if necessary, make changes to the FIRM, based on the information submitted.
