Discovery Process
Data Gathering
The Discovery process begins when the project area and/or watersheds of interest have been identified and selected for further examination in coordination with Project Stakeholders. Discovery is when the Risk MAP project team sets out to learn as much as it can about the community’s flood risk challenges and goals. The community knows best. The more local knowledge, insights, data and information that can be shared, the better the project team can help the community become safer, stronger and more resilient.
Discovery Meeting
A Discovery Meeting is held, and it is designed as a collaborative working session that brings together community officials and a cross section of others in fields related to flood risk and mitigation. Together, we review and validate the assessment data and information. Participants should come prepared to indicate any areas of concern or issues. After this meeting, a Discovery Report is produced that identifies where updates will occur within the watershed.
