2016 Palmetto Sportsmen's Classic - Trashter Piece Contest

A collection of all the artwork that was submitted for the first Trashter Piece Art contest held at the Palmetto's Sportsmens Classic March 2016. People turned everyday trash into beautiful creative works of art!

Winners from each category received an iPad Mini courtesy of the Harry Hampton Wildlife Fund!

(Winner: 5th-8th Grade Category) The SC Crow was submitted by Abigail Wilson a 7th grader from Gaffney, SC. Made of plastic. Queen LaLeap Frog was submitted by Ballentines Commnity Center's Creative Connections Art Club of Irmo, SC. Made of: aluminum, a variety of plastic, styrofoam, various metals and glass. Angelina Drost with her Styrofoamerhead Turtle piece. The Hunting Truck was submitted by JC Shawver, a 5th grader from West Columbia, SC. Made from of cardboard. (Winner: Adult Category) The Recycled Goodness - It's on a Roll, Pretty as a Peacock was submitted by Lana Dotson, of Ridgeway, SC. Made from cardboard rolls. Rounds of Pineville, SC. Made of metal. The Carolina Strutter was submited by Bryan West of Whitmire. Made completely of scrap metal.

Botany Bay & Santee Coastal Boat Dock

Botany Bay located at Edisto Beach is an undisturbed coastal habitat for a wide range of wildlife species including loggerhead sea turtles and neotropical songbirds like the painted bunting.

StateRoadS-10-857 When visiting any beach we encourage take your trash with you and leave only your footprints. Botany Bay's Graveyard Beach looks so much better without litter trashing this beautiful view Santee Coastal Boat dock: Some of our volunteers walked through the marsh and threw the litter found there on the parking lot. I guess not all fisherman appreciate the environment.

Animals and Litter

Litter has an undeniable consequences to our economic development, environment and wildlife. Imagine how may tax dollars could be used to provide better highways, schools, and educational programs across the state instead of cleaning up behind other people. It's completely UP2U how you take action, so take pride where you live.

Look what the kindergartners did at River Springs Elementary with everyday recyclable trash - they turned it into creative artwork!

They all did an awesome job, thank you River Springs Elementary!
