October 16, 2015DNR hosts Socastee Youth Fishing Rodeo on Oct. 24
Fall is here and there is no better way to enjoy the outdoors than the Socastee Youth Fishing Rodeo on Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. This free event for all youth 15 and younger will be held at the Sayebrook Pond near PetCo at 160 Sayebrook Parkway, Socastee.
The Socastee Youth Fishing Rodeo is a bi-lingual event offering resources in both English and Spanish. This is a great opportunity for families to come together and enjoy a morning outdoors with a variety of prizes.
Please bring your own fishing equipment. Adults may fish with youth participants, but youth must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Bring your fishing rods along with hotdogs, liver or other catfish bait and crickets or worms for bream along with lures or minnows for bass. There is a limit five (5) catfish per person. Preregistration is requested, but onsite registration will be provided. Register online or via phone at (803) 737-8483.
For additional information, call the S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Unit 4-A Horry at 1-800-922-5431. DNR also thanks our rodeo partners: Walmart, Sam's Club and Nelson Jackson Company.
