Directions to Wildlife Management Areas
Bear Island WMA | Bear Island is located in eastern Colleton County near Green Pond approximately 13 miles from U.S. Highway 17 off of Secondary Road S-15-26 (Bennett’s Point Road). A green highway sign marks the turn onto Bennett’s Point road from Highway 17. After turning onto Bennett’s Point road, travel approximately 12 miles before crossing the Ashepoo River. After crossing the bridge, proceed approximately 1 mile and turn left into the Bear Island WMA entrance. Follow this dirt road to the check station. |
Beaverdam Creek WMA | The Beaverdam Creek WMA is located near Townville, S.C. Take Highway 24 to Fairplay Road near the Townville Post Office. Go west on Fairplay Road for 0.1 miles. Take the first left (southeast) on Fred Dobbins Road for 1.1 miles. Take the next right (southwest) on McAdams Road for 1 mile. Turn left on the dirt road before the next bridge. Directional signs are posted. |
Bonneau Ferry WMA | The Bonneau Ferry WMA is just outside of Moncks Corner. Take Highway 402 off of Highway 52. Travel approximately 9 miles on Highway 402 until you cross the railroad tracks in Cordesville. The Main Entrance to the Bonneau Ferry WMA will be on the right. |
Broad River WMA | The Broad River Waterfowl Area is located just south of Highway 34 in Fairfield County. From Newberry, take the first dirt road to the right after crossing Broad River Bridge. Proceed 1.2 miles and turn right at the Broad River WMA sign. The shed is approximately 0.5 miles past the sign. |
Clemson Waterfowl Area | The Clemson Waterfowl Area is located on Fants Grove WMA, near Pendleton. Go west on Highway 76/28 from Anderson or east from Clemson. Turn across from Tri-County Tech on Woodburn Road (left if from Anderson, right if from Clemson). Go 1.25 miles, turn left into pasture on dirt road. Garrison Arena is on right. There is a faded blue sign at the entrance to the road. Follow dirt road to shed, where you will meet SCDNR personnel. |
Donnelley WMA | Donnelley is located in Colleton County approximately 40 miles south of Charleston and 15 miles east of Walterboro, SC near Hwy 17. To reach the check station from Hwy 17, turn onto Bennett’s Point Road (SC-26) and proceed approximately 4 miles to the marked entrance of the gravel road to the area. The check station is located 2 miles from the intersection. |
Fants Grove WMA | The Fants Grove WMA is located in Anderson County near Pendleton. Go west on Highway 76/28 from Anderson or east from Clemson. Turn across from Tri-County Tech on Woodburn Road (left if from Anderson, right if from Clemson). Go 1.25 miles, turn left into pasture on dirt road. Garrison Arena is on right. McBee WMA | McBee is located in Chesterfield County just east of the Lynches River. From McBee, go 3.3 miles south on U.S. Highway 1 and turn left on SR-296. McBee WMA is approximately 1.7 miles on the left. |
Palachucola WMA | Proceed on U.S. Highway 321 in Hampton County and turn on S.C. Highway 20 (Augusta Stagecoach Rd.) in Garnett. The Webb Wildlife Center check station is approximately 2.5 miles northwest of the intersection of U.S. Highway 321 and S.C. Highway 20 in Garnett. |
Samworth WMA | From Georgetown, proceed north on U.S. Highway 701 for about 8 miles. Turn right after crossing Black River (across from Phillips 66 gas station). Follow the paved road 5.5 miles. Look for a brown binocular sign and turn right (Samworth Loop Road). Follow the signs to the WMA headquarters. If coming from Conway, on 701 turn left at Plantersville onto S-22-52 for about 6 miles. Turn left at the entrance and follow the signs. |
Sandy Beach WMA | From St. Stephen, take Highway 45 west for approximately 8.4 miles. Turn left onto Sandy Beach Road (dirt road across from the old Pineville fire tower) for about 2.2 miles until the road makes a Y. Bear to the right. Cross over the dike and continue until you come to the parking lot. If you are coming from the Cross area east on Highway 45, the turnoff onto Sandy Beach Road is about 6.3 miles after you cross the diversion canal. Follow the above directions once you turn onto Sandy Beach Road. |
Santee Coastal Reserve | Proceed on U.S. Highway 17 south from Georgetown. After crossing the South Santee River Bridge, turn left on the first paved road (South Santee Road). Travel 1.3 miles and turn left on the dirt road at the sign indicating Santee Coastal Reserve WMA. Do not turn off this road. Follow the signs to the check station, a distance of 3.2 miles. |
Santee Cooper WMA | The Santee Cooper WMA check station is adjacent to Bell’s Marina on S.C. Highway 6 near the town of Eutaw Springs. Eutaw Springs is about 10 miles southeast of the intersection of Highway 6 and Interstate 95. |
Santee-Delta East WMA | The Santee-Delta East WMA is located on the east side of U.S. Highway 17 between the North and South Santee Rivers, approximately 12 miles south of Georgetown. |
Santee-Delta West WMA | The Santee-Delta West WMA is located on the west side of U.S. Highway 17 between the North and South Santee Rivers, approximately 12 miles south of Georgetown. |
Webb Wildlife Center | Proceed on U.S. Highway 321 in Hampton County and turn on S.C. Highway 20 (Augusta Stagecoach Rd.) in Garnett. The Webb Wildlife Center check station is approximately 2.5 miles northwest of the intersection of U.S. Highway 321 and S.C. Highway 20 in Garnett. |
