September 30, 2015DNR investigator honored by The International Hunter Education Association
The S.C. Department of Natural Resources is pleased to announce that Investigator Tony Spires has been honored by The International Hunter Education Association (IHEA). Beginning in 2013, the instructors at the IHEA-USA Hunting Incident Investigation Academy have selected the one student that best personifies the passion for the truth and excellence. This year one person stood out among the 55 officers that came to Forsyth, Georgia from 18 states.
"We are extremely proud of Tony and his work," said Col. Chisolm Frampton, Deputy Director for Law Enforcement. "For him to be recognized with this award is an honor that reflects on the professionalism of not just Tony, but DNR Law Enforcement."
Investigator Spires has worked for the S.C. Department of Natural Resources for the past 22 years and the last five as an investigator. Investigator Spires lives in Hickory Grove, South Carolina. He and his wife Carroll have been married for 23 years and have two daughters. Spires is also a South Carolina Hunter Education Instructor with a passion for safety and the future of hunting.
The award is named for former Wisconsin conservation officer Homer Moe, who is often referred to as the “Father of Hunting Incident Investigation.”
