October 26, 2015Lake Paul Wallace emptied for inspection
Swift water and flooding due to the recent storm in South Carolina has damaged numerous dams across the state. The S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in partnership with the Department of Health & Environmental Control (DHEC) is emptying the impoundment at Lake Paul Wallace in Marlboro County so that an inspection by engineers can asses any potential damage and make any appropriate repairs that are required.
Lake Wallace is a 550-acre lake known for great fishing and maintained by DNR. It is open 24 hours a day for fishing and public access is through several boat ramps and fishing piers. Adjacent to the lake is a diversion canal that also offers fishing, boating and water skiing. There is also a picnic area.
