Lake and buoy observations for:
Start date:11/06/2016 - 1500 UTC
End date:11/06/2016 - 1621 UTC

Usually updates around 20 minutes past the hour.
Yellow wind background indicates wind speed 20 to 33 knots.
Orange wind background indicates wind speed 34 to 47 knots.
Red wind background indicates wind speed 48 to 63 knots.
Purple wind background indicates wind speed 64 knots and greater.
The observations are courtesy of the National Data Buoy Center.
Station/
Position
Name and location (latitude and longitude) of the observation.
Time

(UTC)Time - Coordinated universal time, abbreviated UTC. This was formerly known as Greenwich mean time (GMT). Other terms used to refer to it include "Zulu time (Z)", "universal time," and "world time".

Conversion:
Easter Standard Time: UTC - 5 hours.
Easter Daylight Time: UTC - 4 hours.
Temp.
Air Sea
°FAir and Sea temperature (degrees Fahrenheit).
Dew
Point
°FDew point temperature (degrees Fahrenheit) is the temperature to which air must be cooled in order to reach saturation (assuming air pressure and moisture content are constant). A higher dew point indicates more moisture present in the air.
Wind
DIR/SP/G
(deg/kt/kt)DIR-Wind direction (the direction the wind is coming from in degrees clockwise from true N) during the same period used for wind speed.

Key:
90 - Wind blowing from the east.
180 - Wind blowing from the south.
270 - Wind blowing from the west.
360 - Wind blowing from the north.
   VRB - Variable direction.

SP - Wind speed (knots) averaged over an eight-minute period for buoys and a two-minute period for land stations. .

G - Peak 5 or 8 second gust speed (knots) measured during the eight-minute or two-minute period.
Pressure/
Tendency
(in)Sea level pressure in inches (in) and pressure tendency.

Pressure Tendency is the direction (plus or minus) and the amount of pressure change for a three hour period ending at the time of observation.
Swell
HGT/PER/DIRSwell is a formation of long wavelength ocean surface waves on the sea. Swells are far more stable in their directions and frequency than normal oceanic waves since they are formed by tropical storms and by stable wind systems.

Key:
HGT - Swell Height This is the estimated average height of the highest one-third of the swells. It is estimated from determining how the wave energy is distributed among various periods (frequencies), determining if a separate swell energy peak exists, and then, picking a frequency to separate swell and wind-waves. The swell height is calculated from the wave energies below the separation frequency.
PER - This is the peak period in seconds of the swells. If more than one swell is present, this is the period of the swell containing the maximum energy.
DIR - This is the direction that the swells are coming from. Swells are waves not produced by the local wind and come in at a higher period (longer wave length) than waves produced by the local wind. Direction is given on a 16 point compass scale.
Wind Wave
HGT/PER/DIR
STPWind waves are generated by wind passing over the sea.

Key:
HGT - This is the average height of the highest one-third of the wind-waves. Again, it is estimated by the process mentioned under Swell Height, except that it is the calculated from the energies above the separation frequency
PER - Wind Wave Period is the time (in seconds) that it takes successive wind wave crests or troughs to pass a fixed point. This is the peak period in seconds of the wind-waves.
DIR - This is the direction that the wind-waves are coming from. Wind-waves are produced (or were recently produced) by the local wind. If a swell is present, these waves arrive at a lower period (more frequently) than do the swells. Direction is given on a 16 point compass scale.
STP - Steepness is reported as either "VERY STEEP", "STEEP","AVERAGE", or "SWELL". For a given wave height, steep waves represent a more serious threat to capsizing vessels or damaging marine structures than broad swell. It is determined by examining the significant wave height and the dominant wave period when compared to climatology.
