SCDNR celebrates 75 years of public lands with field day at Wateree River WMA

As part of a yearlong celebration of 75 years of wildlife management areas in South Carolina, the S.C. Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) hosted a field day at Wateree River Heritage Preserve Wildlife Management Area (WRHP) on Saturday, Sept. 10.

The field day at the WRHP offered a number of special programs and activities led by SCDNR's wildlife staff and other outdoor professionals. This event was designed to provide outdoor fun and learning for the whole family on the 3,677-acre tract of land located 17 miles east of Columbia on Highway 378 near the Eastover community.

SCDNR has provided public outdoor recreation opportunities on more than 1 million acres of land across the state for more than 75 years though the WMA program.

Wateree River Heritage Preserve WMA is bordered by the Wateree River and sits on the Richland County-Sumter County line.
