The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division is investigating a fatal boating incident that happened on Lake Murray Saturday, Sept. 21, at approximately 9 p.m.
Tracy L. Gordon, 53, was arrested and charged with one count of felony Boating Under the Influence (BUI) resulting in death, and two counts of felony BUI resulting in great bodily harm, after a cigarette boat, or speed boat, he was driving collided with a pontoon boat carrying three people.
A man on the pontoon boat, identified by the Richland County Coroner’s Office as Stanley Virgil Kiser, 68, of Chapin, was killed. The other two occupants, Kiser’s wife and daughter, were also injured. Kiser’s wife lost her leg and the daughter suffered a head injury.
Gordon and his wife, the second occupant of the cigarette boat, were not injured.
This incident remains under investigation.
