Nature-Based Solutions for Coastal Hazards

This course prepares coastal planners and managers for planning and implementing NBS to reduce coastal natural hazards in their communities.

Training objectives:

  • Describe how nature-based solutions reduce hazard impacts and build resilience.
  • Analyze factors for consideration when choosing and planning nature-based solutions projects, including hazard reduction benefits, co-benefits, design,monitoring, maintenance, and cost.
  • Identify and assess approaches for successful implementation, including planning, funding, partners, and community engagement.
  • Identify local nature-based solutions projects and connect with local experts who can provide additional information and guidance.
  • Eligible for 7 credits for ASFPM and AICP. You must attend the entire training to receive credits. Partial credit is not awarded.
