Fisheries Research at MRRI

The primary responsibility of MRRI fisheries research programs is to conduct monitoring and assessment projects that evaluate the status of stocks of economically valuable species. These projects also:
- Develop and evaluate new technology and methods for determining the status and trends of fish populations;
- Conduct research to determine factors influencing the abundance and distribution of key fishery species;
- Conduct programs with OFM staff to assess the effectiveness of management actions and evaluate management alternatives.
