The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources will conduct a South Carolina Drought Response Committee Conference Call on Friday June 19, 2015 at 11:00 AM. The purpose of the drought conference call is to evaluate the drought status State-wide.
We are conducting the call due to the increasing reports of drought conditions for portions of the State (from the field and by the indices) combined with the much above normal temperatures expected this week.
Based the past 60-day rainfall, some areas of the State have received much above normal rainfall with no signs of drought while other areas are reporting less than 50% of normal rainfall.
Contact South Carolina's State Climatologist, Dr. Hope Mizzell, at (803) 734-9568 or e-mail at mizzellh@dnr.sc.gov for more information.
