SCDNR to extend closure of Sunrise Lake in Lancaster County for 90 days July 3, 2018
Due to safety concerns, Sunrise Lake in Lancaster County will remain closed through September of 2018.
Due to delays in the completion of the replacement of the water control structure on Sunrise Lake in Lancaster county, the lake has not filled completely. The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) has concerns about the safe use of the lake at current water levels.
Therefore, the SCDNR, due to concerns for safe use of the Sunrise Lake, is declaring a 90 day closure, effective July 2, 2018, for Sunrise Lake, under the authority granted the Agency in section 50-13-70 of the South Carolina Code of Law. The closure will be in effect through September 29, 2018. The agency will continue to monitor conditions at the lake and make a decision concern opening the lake for public use prior to September 29, 2018.
