The above maps and graphs were constructed using monthly United States Historical Climate Network (USHCN) data for Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The USHCN data were used because each station data have undergone intensive quality control, have limited station movement, and have long periods of record. Specifically, each station has been adjusted for: time of observation; maximum/minimum temperature systems; station history adjustment; fill missing original data in the network; and an urban warming adjustment. The inventory of the stations used in the current study can be found here. To be included in the research, at least 95% of a station's time series must be present from 1975 to 2005.
