WEEKLY SOUTH CAROLINA WEATHER 2008

November 3, 2008 - November 9, 2008

WEATHER SUMMARY:

Areas of light rain were reported Monday into Wednesday. Clarks Hill measured one half-inch but most sites only received less than one quarter of an inch. Slow clearing began Wednesday afternoon for the westernmost counties allowing for full sun and temperatures warming into the middle 70's. Clemson AP recorded a Wednesday high temperature of 77 degrees. A few isolated showers developed ahead of a cold front Friday with amounts ranging from just a trace at many sites to 0.25 inches at Lake Keowee. Clear skies, gusting winds to near 30 mph, and noticeably cooler air overspread the state for the weekend. Sunday's high temperature at Anderson AP was 60 degrees. The state average temperature for the period was near normal.

The highest official temperature reported was 80 degrees at Hunts Bridge, Lake Bowen, Chesterfield, and Cheraw on November 6. The lowest official temperature reported was 28 degrees at Lake Bowen on the morning of November 9. The heaviest official 24-hour rainfall reported was 0.58 inches at McClellanville ending at 7:00 a.m. on November 3. The state average rainfall for the period was 0.2 inches.

South Carolina river stages were below normal. Ocean water temperatures at Springmaid Pier Myrtle Beach were reported at 66 degrees.
