WEATHER SUMMARY

Canadian high pressure eased into the south during the first part of the week and provided sunny afternoons and cool mornings. Frost became more widespread on both Wednesday and Thursday mornings across central counties. A slow return to milder weather came over the weekend with afternoon high temperatures reported in the upper 70s' and lower 80's. Southeasterly winds and an area of tropical rains over Florida sent a few light showers over eastern counties of South Carolina on Sunday. Statewide temperatures for the period averaged three degrees below normal.

PRECIPITATION AND TEMPERATURE DATA

The highest temperature was 84 degrees at Orangeburg, Blackville and Jamestown on October 16. The lowest temperature was 25 degrees at Cedar Creek on the morning of October 18. The heaviest 24-hour rainfall reported was 0.05" at Ft. Moultrie ending at 7:00 a.m. on October 21.
