WEATHER SUMMARY
Warm, sunny weather was observed early in the week with scattered thundershowers on Monday. Oconee County reported flash flooding during a heavy storm. Fall officially arrived on Tuesday morning and with it clearing skies and cooler temperatures. On Wednesday morning, upstate sites noted lows in the 50's. A slow warming trend held into Saturday before a stronger cold front passed west to east. Some rainfall was measured over the upstate with only isolated amounts elsewhere. Mostly sunny, blue skies ended the week while gusting northerly winds dropped high temperatures to between 70 and 80 degrees. The average statewide temperature for the period was one degree above normal.
The highest temperature reported was 91 degrees at Edisto Beach on September 22. The lowest temperature was 48 degrees at Caesars Head on the morning of September 28. The heaviest official 24-hour rainfall reported was 3.40" at Pickens ending at 7:00 a.m. on September 23. The average statewide rainfall for the period was 0.8".
