WEATHER SUMMARY
Afternoon scattered thunderstorms were reported throughout the week. There were several storms which produced high winds and isolated flash flooding. Late day heating was held in check by the increased cloud cover. A boundary of slightly cooler air passed across the state on Wednesday. Thursday morning low temperatures fell into the 50's and 60's over much of the state. On Friday, the circulation from a weak tropical depression along the Georgia coast pushed thundershowers into southern South Carolina coastal counties. Scattered showers continued into Saturday but many sites enjoyed sunny weather. The period ended with a partly sunny day and widely scattered thundershowers. The average statewide temperature for the period was three degrees below normal.
The highest temperature reported was 94 degrees at Walterboro on July 226. The lowest temperature was 54 degrees at Caesars Head on the morning of July 24. The heaviest official 24-hour rainfall reported was 1.84" at Charleston AP on July 24. The average statewide rainfall for the period was 1.5".
