Vice Chairman Mike Hutchins called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone to the meeting.
- Proposed Changes to 123-51 - Turkey Hunting Rules and Seasons
Billy Dukes reviewed the Proposed Changes to 123-51 – Turkey Hunting Rules and Seasons. Dr. Hartley made a motion that the Board approve the changes to 123- 51, Turkey Hunting Rules and Seasons as presented by staff. Mr. Rasor seconded the motion and the motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Swygert made a motion that the SCDNR Board go into executive session pursuant to SC Code Section 30-4-70(A)(2) to discuss contractual matters related to Item(s) for Board Action 2B – Preliminary Property Acquisition Saluda County, 2C – Preliminary Property Acquisition in Lancaster County and 2D – Preliminary Property Acquisition in Marion County. Mr. Rasor seconded the motion and the motion carried unanimously.
Dr. Hartley made a motion that the SCDNR Board return to open session, noting that no action was taken during executive session. Mr. Swygert seconded the motion and the motion carried unanimously.
- Preliminary Property Acquisition Saluda County
Mr. Rasor made a motion that the SCDNR Board, upon the recommendation of SCDNR staff and Director approval, grant preliminary approval to evaluate the potential purchase of approximately 61 acres located in Saluda County, and the expenditure of up to $20,000 of state appropriated funds to conduct due diligence activities. Dr. Hartley seconded the motion and the motion carried unanimously. - Preliminary Property Acquisition Lancaster County
Mr. Rasor made a motion that the SCDNR Board, upon the recommendation of SCDNR staff and Director approval, grant preliminary approval to evaluate the potential acquisition of approximately 222 acres located in Lancaster County, and the expenditure of up to $20,000 of state appropriated funds to conduct due diligence activities. Dr. Hartley seconded the motion and the motion carried unanimously. - Preliminary Property Acquisition Marion County
Mr. Lee made a motion that the SCDNR Board, upon the recommendation of SCDNR staff and Director approval, grant preliminary approval to evaluate the potential purchase of approximately 439 acres located in Marion County, and the expenditure of up to $20,000 of state appropriated funds to conduct due diligence activities. Mr. Rasor seconded the motion and the motion carried unanimously.
The Board will hold a workshop at the conclusion of this meeting.
The next meeting of the Board will be November 16, 2023 in Columbia, SC.
Mr. Rasor made a motion that the meeting be adjourned. Dr. Hartley seconded the motion and the motion carried unanimously.
