Lake Edwin Johnson drawdown for new pier

The S.C. Department of Natural Resources has begun the necessary drawdown of Lake Edwin Johnson in Spartanburg County to construct a new pier. The new 25 foot pier will be handicap accessible, allowing for better fishing opportunity in the region. To complete construction, the lake will be lowered approximately four to five feet. During the three month construction, Lake Edwin Johnson will remain open to all allowable activities. The public is asked to utilize the lake away from the construction area.

Lake Edwin Johnson
is one of the state’s 18 public fishing lakes managed by the S.C. Department of Natural Resources to increase fishing opportunities where opportunity is lacking. The program provides over 1500 acres of public fishing waters to the anglers of South Carolina.
