Four teams compete in the 2nd Annual T.L. Hanna Invitational
The weather was windy and cool, but the sun was shining on Nov. 17 when four high school angler clubs competed on Lake Hartwell. Low levels on the lake restricted the boats to a single ramp and that made for long lines to get on the water. The slow start didn't hamper Taylor Davis and Chris Faulkner from Byrnes High School as they took first place with a total of 11.36 pounds of largemouth bass.
Apparently the fish around the lake couldn't settle in to a single pattern as the anglers caught fish both shallow around docks with worms and deep with jigs.
The top winning teams were:
* 1st - Taylor Davis and Chris Faulkner - Byrnes High School - 11.34
* 2nd - Andrew Darby and Chase McCroskey - T.L. Hanna High School - 8.39 pounds and tournament big fish at 4.46 pounds
* 3rd - Christopher Bensel and Wilson Sykes - Dixie High School - 8.23 pounds
Also competing in the tournament were anglers from Dorman High School.
T.L. Hanna's next club tournament is scheduled for Dec. 8 on Lake Russell.
Interested in forming a bass fishing club at your school and becoming a part of the Youth Bass Fishing League? It's more than just the thrill of reeling in the big one and enjoying time with friends, fishing club members also learn information about fisheries management, artificial lures, attractants and more. All you need to do is get a minimum of six students (within the 11-18 year old range) with dues paid and you can have a Youth Bass Fishing Club. You'll also need an adult at your school to help lead the club, provide advice and help arrange at least two club tournaments, fundraisers, speakers and other learning sessions pertaining to fishing for club meetings.
The Youth Bass Fishing Clubs are a product of a partnership between the S.C. Department of Natural Resources, The Bass Federation of South Carolina and B.A.S.S with help and support from parents, teachers, school districts, local bait and tackle shops, community partners and Pure Fishing.
