SC Hunting License
What kind of License do I need?
The type of License you need depends on the type of activity that you plan to do and if you are a resident of the state of South Carolina. The following questions will help you determine the licenses you need.
- Do you plan to hunt, trap and/or fish (in coastal or inland waters) in South Carolina?
- How often would you participate in these activities?
- Are you a resident or non-resident of South Carolina?
- How old are you?
How you answer these questions will help determine what type of license is best suited for you. SCDNR offers combination licenses that bundle several licenses together for your convenience. Licenses are available for short time periods such as 7-day, 14-day depending on your residency.
All persons born after June 30, 1979 are required to complete a Hunter Education Course to purchase a hunting license. For information concerning Hunter Education please call 800-277-4301.
