The U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the SCDNR, operates and maintains a network of stream gages across the State. These gages transmit information to the USGS several times per day, providing near real-time reports of streamflow conditions.
Streamflow data and other information for all the active stations listed below can also be found on the
Real-time Streamflow Water Data link on the USGS web page Water Resources of South Carolina.
Discontinued Gages: Gages that have been discontinued and no longer in service are listed under Discontinued Stations. Those stations
do not have up-to-date information. Data collected at these stations since October, 1998 can still be accessed through this website.
Provisional Data: Data provided by this website are provisional and are not quality checked. Users should not make decisions based on this information alone.
Other Sources: In addition to this website, the current lake level and other information for several South Carolina lakes are available at the following links.
Note: Duke Energy no longer operates Lake Greenwood. As a result, the Duke Energy web site and telephone information line no longer provide information about the level of Lake Greenwood. Lake Greenwood levels are still available through the "Lake Greenwood near Chappells, SC" link listed below in the "Active Stations" section of this web page.
Telephone Access: The following telephone numbers provide lake level information.
1-800-925-2537 for Santee Cooper Lakes (Marion and Moultrie):
Santee-Cooper's Lakes Information Line offers lake levels for Lakes Marion and Moultrie, as well as inflow and discharge rates. The information is updated daily at 10:00 am. |
1-800-829-5253 for Duke Energy Lakes (Jocassee, Keowee, Wateree, Wylie, and Fishing Creek):
The Duke Energy Lake Information Line provides up-to-the-minute water levels for Lakes Jocassee and Keowee; Lake Wylie (Middle Catawba); and Lakes Wateree and Fishing Creek (both Lower Catawba), as well as some other lakes in North Carolina. This phone number does not provide actual water surface elevations; rather, it provides lake levels relative to the full pond level, which is assumed to be 100.0 feet. For example, if the level of Lake Wylie is given as 97.6 feet, the lake would be 2.4 feet below its level when full. |
