2007 Annual Report

The 19th annual Beach Sweep River Sweep statewide clean up occurred on September 15th, 2007 from 9am-12pm. Weather conditions were variable across the state with scattered showers being reported in several areas. In most places the water levels allowed suitable access. For the inland portions of the state, site captains in 34 counties reported holding Sweep events. 94 sites were registered by site captains and of those, data were received for 52 sites for a response rate of 55%. A response was considered to be a communication from the site captain regarding the number of volunteers, amount of trash collected (either by weight or bags), and approximate miles covered. Top Ten

Many site captains who reported their cleanup results returned volunteer data cards that categorized trash, litter, and debris collected. This valuable information helped us compile the Top Ten list, a listing of the most common litter collected in, on, or around our inland waterways by Beach Sweep River Sweep volunteers.
