Savannah River Committee meets May 6 in Ridgeland

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford's Savannah River Committee will meet 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 6 at Jaspers Porch in Ridgeland to continue its discussion of issues arising in the Savannah Basin.

This meeting is open to the public, although most of the meeting may be conducted in executive session. Jaspers Porch is located at 153 James Taylor Drive, Ridgeland. For more information or directions to the South Carolina Savannah River Committee meeting, call (843) 987-9292.

Issues range from saltwater intrusion into a principle public water supply aquifer on the coast of Georgia and South Carolina near the Savannah River, industrial and residential waste water assimilation, a minimum release strategy on the U. S. Army Corps of Engineer- managed lakes in the upper part of the Savannah Basin, and the consideration of lake levels.
