Upcoming forums on "The Future of Our Drinking Water"
Two upcoming forums addressing “The Future of Our Drinking Water” will be held in Beaufort and Bluffton in the upcoming weeks. In Bluffton, the forum will be hosted Wednesday, February 13th from 6 - 9 p.m. at the Palmetto Electric Coop Community Room. In Beaufort, the forum will be held Tuesday, February 19th from 6 - 9 p.m. at the Technical College of the Lowcountry Auditorium.
The forums are hosted by SC Department of Natural Resources, Beaufort-Jasper Water and Sewer Authority, ACE Basin National Estuarine Research Reserve, Beaufort Conservation District, the Town of Bluffton, Palmetto Bluff and Clemson Extension Service.
As SC continues to experience drought conditions, unprecedented growth in Beaufort and Jasper counties shows no signs of slowing. GA and SC maintain talks about sharing the Savannah River, which serves as Beaufort and Jasper counties’ primary water source. The forums will discuss the sources of our drinking water and their uses; other water supplies available and the challenges associated with those supplies; and what can be done to conserve resources.
