Savannah River Committee to meet Oct. 12 in Columbia

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford's Savannah River Committee will meet 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12 in the S.C. Department of Natural Resources’ board room at the Rembert Dennis Building in Columbia to continue its discussion of issues arising in the Savannah Basin.

This meeting is open to the public. The S.C. Department of Natural Resources’ Board Room is located in Room 335 of the Rembert Dennis Building at 1000 Assembly Street in Columbia. For more information or directions to the Savannah River Committee meeting, call (803) 734-9102 in Columbia.

Issues range from saltwater intrusion into a principle public water supply aquifer on the coast of Georgia and South Carolina near the Savannah River, industrial and residential waste water assimilation, a minimum release strategy on the U. S. Army Corps of Engineer-managed lakes in the upper part of the Savannah Basin, and the consideration of lake levels.

DNR protects and manages South Carolina’s natural resources by making wise and balanced decisions for the benefit of the state’s natural resources and its people.
