The S.C. Department of Natural Resources is participating in several upcoming boat shows and outreach events this spring.
Staff from the Marine Resources and Law Enforcement divisions of the S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will be participating in upcoming boat shows and wildlife expositions to answer questions the public may have, provide regulatory information about saltwater fishing and hunting seasons, and hand out educational materials and promotional items.
According to Linda Renshaw, director of DNR’s Office of Public Affairs in Charleston, “Events like the boat shows offer our staff the opportunity to talk personally with our constituents and tell them about the services DNR can provide to help them get the most enjoyment from their natural resource-related experiences. We can answer questions, direct them to the right information resources, and put publications in their hands—all to keep them safe, legal and having fun in the outdoors.”
Upcoming events include the 23rd Annual Grand Strand Boat Show at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, Jan. 19-21; the 27th Annual Charleston Boat Show at the North Charleston Area Convention Center Complex, Jan. 26-28; the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition in Charleston, Feb. 16-18; the 23rd Annual Palmetto Sportsmen’s Classic at the State Fairgrounds in Columbia, March 23-25; the South Carolina In-Water Boat Show at the Ripley Light Yacht Club in Charleston, April 26-29; and the Shallow Water Fishing Expo in Charleston at a date to be announced.
