Coastal Training Program
The CTP is structured to provide activities for coastal decision-makers: elected, employed, and volunteer citizens responsible for decisions that affect important coastal resources. This includes a variety of audiences:
- local planners
- municipal and county officials
- council members
- consultants
- state regulatory staff
- developers
- engineers and architects
- community groups
- local leaders
- environmental non-profits
- and coastal businesses.
The ACE Basin CTP focuses on decision-makers within the ACE Basin watershed and its neighboring areas, including Colleton, Charleston, Jasper, and Beaufort counties.
ACE Basin CTP is now an approved program provider for the SC Planning Education Advisory Committee. South Carolina Code requires the formation of a State Advisory Committee on Educational Requirements for Local Government Planning or Zoning Officials and Employees. Unless expressly exempted, every locally appointed official and professional employee must attend a minimum of six hours of orientation training and annually attend no fewer than three hours of continuing education. By being an approved program provider we can now offer continuing education credits for planning commission and zoning board of appeals members, as well as planning staff for counties and municipalities.
