Chapter 7 - Shad, Herring, Eel Legislation
Public Meetings

American Shad at Jack D. Bayless Fish HatcheryThe South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) will be holding public meetings throughout the State to discuss draft legislation for "diadromous" (shad, herring, and eel) fisheries. The purpose of this legislation is twofold, since these species occur in both fresh and salt waters at various life stages, it is designed to simplify and consolidate current laws for shad, herring, and eel currently found in saltwater laws. This new Chapter is designed to streamline law so that it works better for staff and fishermen alike.

We invite all interested parties to attend and participate in the upcoming meetings. We will provide information regarding any proposed changes to the law and will listen to all constituent concerns regarding the draft legislation.

All meetings are scheduled from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
