The mission of the Charleston County Soil and Water Conservation District (CSWCD) is to equip Charleston County citizens with local knowledge and leadership for conservation-based use of soil, water, and related natural resources. The Conservation District, composed of three locally elected and two SC Department of Natural Resources (DNR) appointed commissioners, strives to identify natural resource needs and provide solutions through partnerships and programs. The Charleston District works closely with a DNR Program Coordinator, USDA District Conservationist, and essential support staff. The District also provides a support system for the conservation community, acting as a resource for local landowners to develop and maintain good steward practices on their land.
As a watch-guard for Charleston County’s natural assets, the Conservation District strives to serve the community in a broad capacity. Our goals include imparting education, citizen’s assistance, resource conservation & development, community partnerships, and legislative support. Support us in conserving Charleston’s natural resource heritage and developing conscientious communities!
