SOUTH CAROLINA WEATHER AND CLIMATE

WEATHER SUMMARY

Warm, 80 degree days started the first full week of November with dense fog reported during the early morning hours. On Tuesday, an area of showers formed over west central South Carolina. Scattered showers again developed in the moist conditions on Wednesday. With the warm southerly flow, Beaufort observed a rare November heat index value of 102 degrees at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. A cold front approached on Thursday but stalled across the state into the weekend. Under cloudy skies and northeast winds, high temperatures fell back into 50's and 60's. Only light precipitation was measured before the system slowly cleared late Sunday. The statewide average temperature for the period was nine degrees above normal.

The highest temperature reported was 87 degrees at both Charleston AP and Cades November 4. The lowest temperature was 34 degrees at Caesars Head on the morning of November 9. The heaviest 24-hour rainfall was 1.33" at Keowee Dam ending at 7:00 a.m. on November 6. The average statewide rainfall for the period was 0.3.”

RIVERS AND SURF

South Carolina river stages were near normal. Surf temperatures at Myrtle Beach
and Savannah will average around 71 degrees.
