WEATHER SUMMARY

Sunny, warm conditions on Monday preceded a rainmaking cold front on Tuesday. Counties across the midlands and towards the coast received the most rain. Much cooler weather followed into Thursday with daytime temperatures peaking in the 60's and lower 70's while morning lows fell into the 30's upstate and 40's elsewhere. Foliage color change has accelerated across the higher elevations. The second boundary of cold air passed through the state on Friday but with only isolated and light precipitation. Mostly sunny, Fall-like weather was observed over the weekend. The average statewide temperature for the period was near normal.

The highest temperature reported was 85 degrees at Cades on October 13 and at Ft. Moultrie on October 14. The lowest temperature was 35 degrees at Chester and Hunts Bridge on the morning of October 16. The heaviest 24 hour rainfall was 1.49" at Columbia AP on October 14. The average statewide rainfall for the period was 0.2.".
