WEATHER SUMMARY

Rainshowers, circulating around the remnants of once Tropical Storm Henri, positioned off the North Carolina coast, started the week over eastern sections. Although scattered in nature many sites received amounts greater than one inch. This trend continued through Tuesday before tapering off for inland areas and being generally confined to the northeast coast. Mornings were Fall like early in the week with lows upstate in the 50's. Dry, sunny weather followed into the weekend with clearing skies and rising afternoon temperatures. By Saturday, high temperatures were reaching the mid-80's to around 90 degrees. Widely scattered thundershowers were observed late in the day on Sunday across the south midlands. The average statewide temperature for the period was four degrees below normal.

The highest temperature reported was 91 degrees at Orangeburg on September 13. The lowest temperature was 50 degrees at Caesars Head on the morning of September 12. The heaviest official 24-hour rainfall reported was 3.95" at Jeffries Hydro ending at 7:00 a.m. on September 9. The average statewide rainfall for the period was 0.2.".

RIVERS AND SURF

South Carolina river stages were near normal. Surf temperatures at
Myrtle Beach and Savannah will average around 78 degrees.
