WEATHER SUMMARY

Hot, hazy conditions were observed on Monday with afternoon high temperatures near 100 degrees. Clouds increased on Tuesday before raindrops were reported on Wednesday morning. Afternoon thunderstorms became common throughout the rest of the week. Statewide temperatures for the week averaged five degrees above normal.

PRECIPITATION AND TEMPERATURE DATA

The highest temperature was 101 degrees at Johnston on August 27. The lowest temperature was 62 degrees at Hunts Bridge on the morning of August 28. The heaviest 24-hour rainfall reported was 2.45" at N. Myrtle Beach ending at 7:00 a.m. on August 30. The average statewide rainfall for the period was 0.6."
