WEATHER SUMMARY

Cloudy skies and northeast winds held down temperatures on Monday. Sunny, humid weather followed on Tuesday and Wednesday with a slow warming trend. Mid-90 degree heat was observed on Thursday just before a line of thunderstorms swept through the state that evening. There were reports of high winds, light damage and power disruptions. Over the weekend there were scattered thunderstorms but most of the activity was across eastern and coastal counties. Statewide temperatures for the period averaged one degrees below normal.

PRECIPITATION AND TEMPERATURE DATA

The maximum observed temperature was 96 degrees at Orangeburg and Kershaw on August 24. The minimum observed temperature was 55 degrees at Caesars Head on August 22. The heaviest 24-hour rainfall was reported at Florence with 1.92" ending at 7:00 a.m. on August 25. Statewide average rainfall for the period was 0.7".
