WEATHER SUMMARY

Sunny, hot weather on Monday preceded a day of storms and heavy rainfalls over the eastern half of the state on Tuesday. Near normal temperatures followed through the work week. On both Thursday and Friday mornings, low temperatures at several sites fell into the 60's. Mostly sunny conditions combined with scattered afternoon thundershowers on Saturday and Sunday. Statewide temperatures for the week averaged one degree above normal.

PRECIPITATION AND TEMPERATURE DATA

The highest temperature was 100 degrees at Johnston on August 18. The lowest temperature was 63 degrees at Cades on August 16 and Kershaw and Orangeburg on August 17. The heaviest 24-hour rainfall reported was 2.84" at Conway ending at 7:00 a.m. on August 15. The average statewide rainfall for the period was 1.1".
