WEATHER SUMMARY

Hot, dry weather was observed Monday through Wednesday. Daily high temperatures climbed into the upper 90's with a few sites reaching the century mark. A cold front entered the area late Wednesday with scattered thunderstorms which produced high winds and localized heavy rains. Much cooler conditions followed over the weekend with light northerly winds. On both Saturday and Sunday mornings the mercury fell into the 50's and 60's. Statewide temperatures for the week averaged one degree below normal.

PRECIPITATION AND TEMPERATURE DATA

The highest temperature was 101 degrees at Jamestown on July 9. The lowest temperature was 55degrees at Johnston on the morning of July 15. The heaviest 24-hour rainfall reported was 2.38" at Givhans ending at 7:00 a.m. on July 12. The average statewide rainfall for the period was 0.6".
