WEATHER SUMMARY

Rainshowers were observed on both Monday and Tuesday with the heavier amounts across the upstate. A boundary of cooler temperatures and cloudy skies divided the state during midweek. More rains were reported on Thursday, Friday and Saturday although the coverage was scattered in nature. Most inland sites enjoyed a mostly sunny weekend with mild to warm afternoons. Statewide temperatures for the period averaged four degrees below normal.

PRECIPITATION AND TEMPERATURE DATA

The maximum observed temperature was 83 degrees at Orangeburg on April 30. The minimum observed temperature was 35 degrees at Lake Bowen on the morning of April 28. Between 7:00 a.m. on April 24 and 7:00 a.m on April 26 Clinton measured 2.50" of rain. Statewide average rainfall for the period was 0.4".

4 inch depth average soil temperature: Columbia 69 degrees.

RIVERS AND SURF

Most South Carolina rivers are near normal. Surf temperatures at Myrtle Beach and Savannah will average around 67 degrees.
