WEATHER SUMMARY

Cloudy, cool conditions associated with a nearly stationary frontal boundary were observed early in the week. Several sites reported light showers on Tuesday and Wednesday. Warm weather was the dominant weather feature over the weekend. Afternoon high temperatures beginning Friday rose into the 80's. Mostly sunny skies and upper 80 degree warmth ended the week. Statewide temperatures for the period averaged two degrees above normal.

PRECIPITATION AND TEMPERATURE DATA

The highest temperature was 91 degrees at Cheraw, Chesterfield and Orangeburg on April 8. The lowest temperature was 29 degrees at Salem and Kershaw on the morning of April 2. The heaviest 24 hour rainfall reported was 0.63" at Antreville ending at 7 a.m. on April 3. The average statewide rainfall for the period was 0.2".

RIVERS AND SURF

South Carolina river stages were near normal. Surf temperatures at Myrtle Beach and Savannah will average around 60 degrees.
