WEATHER SUMMARY

Seasonal weather with mostly sunny and mild afternoons were observed on both Monday and Tuesday. Cloudy, breezy conditions lowered temperatures on Wednesday and was followed by a sunny and cold Valentines Thursday. A quick surface wind change occurred on Friday with a general warming trend and a few light showers over south coastal sections. Several sites on Saturday managed to enjoy a 70 degree Spring-like day. A cold front raced across the state early Sunday returning the weather to more in line with the climate calendar. For the period the state average temperature was one degree above normal.

PRECIPITATION AND TEMPERATURE DATA

The highest temperature was 73 degrees at Allendale on February 16. The lowest temperature reported was 23 degrees at Union and Hunts Bridge on the morning of February 12. The greatest 24-hour rainfall reported was 0.27" at Edisto Beach ending at 7:00 a.m. on February 11. The average statewide rainfall for the period was 0.1".

South Carolina river stages were below to near normal.
Surf temperatures at Myrtle Beach and Savannah will average around 52 degrees.
