WEATHER SUMMARY

Dense fog was observed on both Monday and Tuesday mornings as moist and mild air advected northward. Spring-like warm weather continued throughout the week. Scattered, light showers fell on Thursday and again on Friday. The thermometer climbed over the 80 degree mark along the central coast on Saturday. Daily high temperature records were set at Charleston. Mostly sunny and dry weather ended the week. For the period, the state average temperature was twelve degrees above normal.

The highest official temperature reported was 81 degrees at Jamestown and Charleston AP on January 8. The lowest official temperature reported was 35 degrees at Table Rock on the morning of January 9. The heaviest 24-hour rainfall reported was 0.63 inches at Caesars Head ending at 7:00 a.m. on January 8. The average statewide rainfall for the period was 0.1 inches.
