WEATHER SUMMARY

The last days of 2004 began with well below normal temperatures. On both Monday and Tuesday the mercury fell into the teens with heavy frost. Afternoon high temperatures were observed in the upper 30's and mid-40's. Warmer conditions followed on Thursday and over the weekend. On New Year's Day Saturday, mild 70 degree weather was reported. The week ended under mostly sunny and dry weather. For the period, the state average temperature was four degrees above normal.

The highest official temperature reported was 77 degrees at Givhans on January 2. The lowest official temperature reported was 16 degrees at Chester on the morning of December 28. The heaviest 24-hour rainfall reported was 0.00 inches. The average statewide rainfall for the period was 0.0 inches.
