An Atlantic hurricane move inland near Beaufort, SC on August 11 and moved westward and northwest across Georgia. The tropical system moved from Georgia though Tennessee and Kentucky before dissipating in central North Carolina. Charleston reported a sea level pressure of 29.64 inches on the 11th. Heavy rains from the hurricane caused moderately high flood crests on many rivers.
